Dream Team Buys of the Week
There are plenty of bargains going around this week in Dream Team land and with a lot of the 'Cash Cows' we bought early in the season at there peak or almost there it might be time for an upgrade or two? Players such as Joel Selwood, Alwyn Davey, Hadley, Nathan Ablett to name just a few are ready to be shipped out and upgraded for some Top shelf Dream Teamers who are going at more than reasonable prices here's a few:
Heath Shaw received a corky in the early minutes last week and is a test this week if he comes up look at grabbing him before round 13. As he will be hanging on to the 9 points game until then. This should drop him to the 230-240k mark, making him way under value and a must have recruit.
Lenny Hayes even after his 106 on the weekend Lenny is Still a great buy at $328,400 down $79,00 from his original asking price. After spending most of this season being eased back from injuries Lenny has found him self only playing more than 80% game time once this season so look for him to start pumping out the big 100's as his fitness reaches his peak and his TOG increases.
Daniel Kerr another gun midfielder going cheap at the moment. If you want Kerr grab him this week or next as he will drop the 35 he scored in round 5 this week and his price tag of $296,200 will be a distant memory as he is a good thing to rediscover his early season form after a 2 week break through suspension.

Form drops ready to bounce back
Most of things guys have had an injury of some discription or maybe just a bit of poor these such players could be very handy additions to your Dream Team at a disounted price:
Lenny Hayes (StK): Down $71,000 at could drop more after this week unless he puts a big score together Hayes would be a great buy with a price tag that can only go one way. And that is of course up.
Ben Johnson (Coll): Johnson has dropped a massive $82,100 and sits at the juicey price of $287,200 so gobble him up now before he gets back to the $330,000 mark that he is worth.
Troy Simmonds (Rich): After being injured in the early minutes of his round 6 clash he has a 7 as his most recent score this will be included in his price average for the next to weeks which will drop him even further to around the $260,000 mark $110,000 less than his origonal asking price after a stellar 2006.

Cash Cows of Round 9
Mitch Morton (W.C): As far as centres go Morton would have to be the biggest bubble about to burst when it comes to quick cash injections at $117,800 he averages a handy 71 from his 2 matches. Of course one more match and his price will rocket and if he can just put together another 70 he should shoot straight to 150k and it's only onwards and upwards from there.
Clint Bizzle (Melb): After a very patchy couple of years with injuries resulting in his bargin Dream Team price Clint will hopefully be able to put some good footy together this year. With scores of 42 and 80 giving him a 61 average to date he would make a very handy reserve as he is likely to maintain his spot and level out at about a 60-65 average for the season. His price sits at $127,600 and will continue to rise up to the mid to low 200's.
Mitch Clark (Bris): Obvious one I know but how could I leave him out Bris fans have been waiting for his return after a promising start to his career was hampered by injuries. Arrive he did with 5 goals in a loosing team against Collingwood. With minimal forward options other than Brown and the high wraps put on Clark he is likely to play the rest of the season and should take his price tag of 177k up to the 250k mark if his current form continues.

Cash Cows Of the week
Cleve Hughes: Cleve played just 3 games last season with out having a major impact but did show signs that he had plenty of talent. In his 2 matches this season he has Dream Team scores of 72 against West Coast and 87 in the thumping dished out by the Cats. With an Average of 79.5 and a price tag of just $89,000 Hughes could provide a great cash injection as well as be a handy reserve for the season ahead. Especialy seeing as Richmond have written off the season and have adopted a youth policy.
Ricky Petterd: I won't say to much about Ricky as I spoke about him after his first up performance but if you are looking for a hand Centre that will make you some good dollars. Look no further averaging 86 and coming off a massive 101 last week his price will sky rocket so it's now or never if you intend to add hime to your Dream Team.

Round 5 AFL Dream Team Wrap
Here are a few player that could be worthy inclusions to your Dream team. I haven't bothered to discuss the obvious ones like Selwood and co. Because you either have them or know all about them anyway but here are some players that may have slipped under the radar just a little...
Richard Hadley has played 3 games so his price has already increased 30k however he is yet to even play 70% of any game as he is being eased back into things after his 2 knee reconstructions. Would surprise me if Hadley scores under 60pts in any game from here on end. He is a future star for the lions.
Ricky Petterd played his first game of AFL football on the weekend and definitely didn't go unnoticed. cracking the 100 point mark on debut which is a huge effort. Petterd was draft 2nd round at 30 overall by Melbourne in the 2006 draft from Broadbeach in the QAFL and could have been hire after he was unable to attend draft camp due to injury. Keep an out out for him this week because his price could shoot through the roof with another similar performance to last week.
Shannon Cox has not missed a beat in his first 3 games for Collingwood this year and is still a bargain buy at 123k especially if you are looking for a nice cheap forward that will make you some dollars. Cox had his best game in Round 5 notching up 82 points and has improved with each of his 3 outings. Another you talent at the pies who looks to have a bright future at the club.
Aaron Edwards along with couple of the other Kangaroos youngsters have gone along way towards helping the Kanga's regain the respect of the AFL community with there hard in and under brand of football. Edwards has been a solid contributor for the Kangas as well as Dream Team coaches who put faith in him from the get go. Could be a very useful pick up. Listed in the forwards with a price tag of just 135k the only way is up for this young Roo.

AFL Dream Team Round 3
Round 3 is over hopefully you have filled your team with any hot money making prospects that you may have missed initially. But don't fear if you have missed out. There at least a couple on the go at the moment and many more to pop up shortly.
Key Forward prospect:
Obviously look no further than Tom Hawkins he is looking like a must have after a blistering start to his career booting 7 goals in 2 games and amassing a more than healthy average for his price in doing so.
Key Centre prospect:
If you are looking for a cheap centre and already have the dream team gun of the year in Chris Knights, Sydney's Tim Schimdt looks like he may have the goods. He has racked up 30 possessions as well as 3 goals from his 2 games so far. with a an average points score of 63.5 and a price of just 98,200(Dream Team) he is sure to pick you up some big dollars and possibly handy points.
Key Back prospect:
First of all if you don't have Adcock take him now before his price rises up to the 300,000+ mark. But for those who did a little research and have had him since round 1 here are a couple more players to think about. Currently in the backs there are not any bargain basement buys going around. but many middle price range players that could turn into top shelf selections. So far this year we have had the inconsistency of Brennan(Bris) as well as Jacobs(Haw) both mixing 2 brilliant performances with 1 fairly average effort. You would expect them both to turn out to be pretty solid buys but whether they are long term pics only time will tell. They both finishing the first 3 weeks with a very healthy average for there price. But be ware Jared's poor Round 3 score will hinder his price rise for the next 3 weeks- as a players last 3 games average decide his price rise or fall so if you expect to make any more money out of him in the next 2 weeks think again.
A couple of more consistent performers are Nathan Bock(Adel) and Tadgh Kennelly of Sydney who have both have put in a super start to 2007. In the 3 games so far Bock averages 89 at $260,900 and Kennelly who looks to have taken the next step up to the elite level with the massive average of 96 at $271,600 look to be the best buys at this stage.
In the Next week we see Richard Hadley play his second game after a slow but safe start in his first game back after 2 Knee reco's. As long as he stays on the park he will finish the year some where around the $300, 000 mark. But have another look this week before his price goes anywhere before adding him.
Other more established players that are already at the top but can be picked up under value at the moment include:
Barry Hall
Lenny Hayes
Ben Johnson
Shannon Grant
Simon Goodwin
Keep an eye out for these guys when looking to off load some big dollars as they are all great buys. They will most become even more affordable after this week. Happy Coaching!

Who to trade in? Who to trade out?
I thought I might put it out there and get some feed back on how every one is going so far. I will start the ball rolling and would be great to get some comments from my fellow Coaches:
Round 1 score: 1896
Most likely player to gain value this year: Adcock
Most Likely to drop value this year: Brad Ottens
Player I most want to get rid of after round 1: James Walker
Player I most want to pick up after round 1: Chris Knights
How many trades will you make in the first two rounds: 4
Please add your thoughts in the comments section. And good luck for round 2!

The Big 4 Trades
The next 2 weeks gives you the opportunity to make up to 4 changes. These are the most important trades you will make all season. Choosing the right players that will continue to make you dollars or maybe even be good enough to hold there position is the key to Dream Team success. The earlier you can find these Dream Team super stars the more money you will make and the more you will to help your quest of stacking your team full of guns asap.
Although we are just one round down in the AFL season and of course the Dream Team competition, you may have already had some pleasant and not so pleasant surprises relating to the performance of your team. It may seem harsh to drop a player after just one week especially with trades being like gold over the long 22 round season. But if you have spent big dollars on him it only takes one bad score over the first three rounds and his average will be below par and his value will drop accordingly. There are obviously two options, firstly trade him for someone maybe a lot cheaper who's score was through the roof in round one, like a Brennan, Jacobs or even Young, who would all have to break down not to gain value after there 1st up efforts, whether they continue this form is of course very debatable, but that's another story. The second option is to ride the wave and hope he can make up for his poor start and that the player will average out to a decent level in the end.
I say, use the next to weeks to pick up any likely cash cows that you may have missed in your pre season research or surprise packets that have got under all of our guards before price change at the completion of round 3. The more of these you can successfully detect the better your score will finish up. Any the more likely it will be that you take at the flag in your league.

AFL DREAM TEAM ROUND 1
One round down, Hope all the research has paid off and the hot tips for big up and comers for the year ahead is well on track. Some people may disagree but my theory is that you need to trade hard and smart for the next two weeks. With prices set to fluctuate at the end of round 3 you have just 4 changes to make during that time. any obvious blunders need to be sorted out and you need to pick 4 players that are achieving well above there price range. Easiest way to do this is to sort go through stats centre, be it on 'AFL Dream Team', or 'Super Coach' and check out the highest ranked players for the week, with an emphasis placed on seeking out the bargains. There are plenty out there already just one week in. You may see it as a little impatient to be trading already as form can be so volatile, but some one you were looking at buying at the end round two for $140,000 may have sky rocketed to over $200,000 by price change at end of week 3 so don't miss out, start your moves this week.

Dream Team - Game On!
The time has come fellow dream teamers. The time wives and girlfriends dread. I don't just speak of AFL season its self, but of course what this signifies. The start of 'AFL Dream Team' for 2007. Some of you may have a few players in mind, some may have been researching for months but either way you will be loosing countless hours over the next week trying to sort out your team before kick off on Friday. For those who take Dream Team pretty serious or even would just like an edge to help you beat your smarty mate. The one that has boasting the entire preseason about how he beat you last year and will do it again, here are a few tips for the season to come :
The most important of all is to focus on selecting players that are what you consider to be undervalue. Fill your team with as many of these as possible, be it through form drop or injury last season. Because the key to high scores is adding value to your team as the rounds go by. Yet again this year, probably even more so than ever there are quite a few of these bargains floating around. here are a few must haves for this year:
Nathan Brown:
Recovering from a broken leg and playing a lot of the season with a plate in his leg never reached the previous standard that we know he can produce. Will make at least $100,000 if you can fit him into your team. Current price: $235,600. A steal.
Luke Darcy:
Another much talked about and cruel injured star. Darcy has not played since 2004 but his pre season has been very encouraging and would suggest he can pick up where he left off before injury. Current price: $166,900. Will most likely finished the season valued over $300,000.
Nigel Lappin:
This tripple premiership star also missed the entire 2006 season there for has been given the very generous price tag of $196,400. His value will race up over the $300,000 dollar mark by round 6 or 7 so make sure he is a definite starter in your side.
Jed Adcock:
A young star of the future, already showing poise and skill beyond his age. Only injury last season stopped his price tag from reaching close to $300,000 last year so at $158,600 snap him up while you have the chance.
If I mentioned any more I would be giving to much away. These are the obvious ones, but with a little research you will find there a quite a few more with similar stories. Good luck and enjoy!

NAB CUP ROUND 2 DRAFT REPORT
Jarrod Harbrow: Debuted in round 2 and made a super start to his career. Harbrow impressed with 8 Kicks, 7 Handballs, and 1 Mark. Whilst still on the rookie list and not likely to break into the doggies squad early in the year due to his light frame, he is showing great signs and is definitely one to watch out for later in the year.
Nathan Djerrkura: Geelong's second round draft pick, 25th overall in the 2006 AFL Draft, Djerrkura was NT's best player in the Under 18's championships. Known for his tough in and under style was very handy for Geelong on the weekend picking up 7 Kicks 4 Handballs, 1 Mark and a Goal.
Travis Boak: Showed why he was picked up at No.5 in the 2006 draft with a class display on debut amassing 9 Kicks, 5 Handballs, and 1 Mark. Another midfielder still with a light frame but with silky smooth hand and clean pair of heals. Will be interesting to see if he is given a chance in Round 1
Lachlan Hansen: Another solid performance form this highly rated key position player. Hansen finished the match against Fremantle with 6 Kicks, 2 Handballs, 4 Marks and 2 Goals. Offering a lot of hope to the Kangaroos faithful.
Lindsay Thomas: A Great pick up for the Kangaroos at No. 53 overall in the 2006 AFL draft. In his two nab cup games for the Kanga's Thomas has kicked 4 and 2 goals respectably and has provided much needed spark to the Roos' forward line. He reads the play well, and has fed off Nathan Thompson beautifully. He has seriously put his case forward for a round 1 birth in the AFL season proper.

NAB CUP ROUND 1 DRAFT REPORT
Round 1 NAB Cup is already over and before we know it the season will be in full swing. The weekend offered us all our first look at the class of 2007. The Great White hopes for many fans of the more struggling clubs, and added stability for a future that will remain bright for others travelling a bit better. Whether you are a Dream Teamer, looking to snuff out a couple of ready made draftees. Or just a devoted AFL fan watching and hoping that your club may have snared the next Chris Judd with their 1st round pick.
Just one game in, possibly to early to read to much in to things but there were plenty of good sings across the entire weekend that the much hyped 2006 AFL draft may live up to expectations. Here are a few that got out the blocks well early.

AFL DREAM TEAM TACTICS
With the AFL season fast approaching it's time to start scouting new talent and sorting through the current crop in an effort to take out the big dollars, or even just beat your mates in your private AFL Dream Team league. As most of you have participated before would know, the aim of the game is to use your team sallary cap in the most effective way to pick a team that will score as many points as possible over the 22 round Australian Football Leauge season.
There are many diferent approaches you can use to put your team together. It can be a massive balancing act in trying to pick a team that will score you big points from round one or bank on a number of young players price value increasing to a point that you can use the money you have made with these players to gradually improve your team as the season progresses. With an emphasis on increasing you overall team value.
The Key to finding these big money earners is trying to choosing the right 1st year players. This is not as simple as choosing the top AFL draft picks even though the top 5 have gone to the bottom clubs meaning that they will most likely play alot of games in 2007. So basically when selecting your young guns look at those that play for clubs that are struggling a little or in 'rebuilding phase'. And then the question. But how many 1st year players should you select?
The other way of selecting players that will make you big bucks is to look for players that where injured for the 2006 AFL season and played less than 3 games. As there price will be minimal. Of course in doing this you have the risk that they may re-injure themselves. But a risk worth taking in most cases. Do you pick up Darcy, Hadley, or even some of the past year top draftees that have never or barely made it on the paddock, Like Tom Williams for instance?
Which ever angle you take no doubt there will be many hours lost researching and pondering your final line-up before lockout at season start. So all the best for the footy season ahead.
